A natural material with its own character
Cork brings beautiful texture and individuality to a handcrafted bag. Its natural grain and variations mean no two pieces look exactly alike.
What is cork fabric?
Cork comes from the outer bark of the cork oak tree. The bark can be harvested without cutting down the tree, and it grows back over time. To make cork fabric, thin layers of cork are bonded to a backing, creating a flexible material that can be cut and sewn.
Why we love it
For Bagnana Handcrafted, cork is a lovely way to combine natural texture with thoughtful design. It is lightweight and supple, with a distinctive look that complements the care put into a handmade bag.
Cork's surface naturally resists moisture, but a finished bag is not waterproof. Linings, seams, hardware, and other materials also need care.
Caring for your cork bag
Gently wipe the cork surface with a soft, damp cloth. If needed, use a small amount of mild soap, then wipe away any residue and allow the bag to air-dry. Avoid soaking, machine washing, harsh cleaners, and direct heat. Test any cleaning method on an inconspicuous area first.
Store your bag in a dry place away from prolonged direct sunlight. A little everyday care will help preserve its beautiful finish.
